My sisters’ cookbook: food and menopause
What sets this cookbook apart from other healthy food cookbooks is its focus on ingredients essential for women in perimenopause, menopause, or post-menopause. However, the recipes are not exclusively for women but are also suitable for those who need to prepare meals for others in their daily lives. The cookbook includes guidance on adjusting recipes by incorporating a few additional steps to make them suitable for a wider audience. Rather than advocating for a complete lifestyle change or strict adherence to new rules, it offers guidance on making necessary dietary adjustments based on scientific research.
With a master’s degree in biochemistry and additional studies in nutrition, I aimed to infuse the cookbook with a blend of culinary creativity and scientific expertise. I vividly recall the wisdom imparted by my esteemed professor, who astutely remarked, “There are no vitamins and minerals here, just energy!” when invited for a meal at a friend’s house. Inspired by his insight, I have meticulously categorized the recipes in this book based on their energy content, offering a comprehensive guide to nutritious eating:
